In 1155 some Augustinians founded this Abbey. It lasted less than 400 years before the sacking of the monasteries by Henry VIII. Yet if you get in here early enough before the tourists arrive, it’s still an incredibly sweet place to pray.
Unlike most active churches and cathedrals this broken, battered spiritual site is wide open to pray in day or night.
A great place to be drawn to to pray for our islands on a weekend like this, where our TVs make it clear that we have so obviously fallen far, far away from the Lord
Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy
Or as the Augustinians may have said: Kyrie Eleison

holy sacred spaces are sanctuaries for prayer and adoration – sad that so many sacred spaces are being violated abused and minused – church’s being minimised – spaces raped with drag parades, discoes restaurants 😟and gin festivals – to mention only a few – so very sad – thanku for holding sacred space holy 🙏🏽
